Abstract:
The disclosed optical recording/reproduction method and optical recording/reproduction device can perform control for optimizing the amount of spherical aberration in a multilayered optical disc in a short period of time. The amplitude value (FE1) of a focusing error signal detected immediately after a focal position leaves any given first recording layer when displacing an objective lens in the direction of focusing in a particular spherical aberration (SAn), and the amplitude value (FE2) of the focusing error signal detected just prior to passing through the focal position of any given second recording layer that is separate from the first recording layer are measured, the amplitude ratio (FE1/FE2) of amplitude values FE1 to FE2 is calculated, the difference (SAn-SAo) between the spherical aberration (SAn) and a spherical aberration (SAo) that is optimal for the second recording layer is represented as an approximation of the amplitude ratio (FE1/FE2), and on the basis of this approximation, the optimal spherical aberration (SAo) is calculated, and the spherical aberration is set to be SAo.
