Abstract:
The present invention suppresses reflection between a Mach-Zehnder modulator and a terminating resistor. This optical modulator comprises a differential-drive open-collector driver IC2, a differential-drive semiconductor Mach-Zehnder modulator 1, and a differential terminator 3. The Mach-Zehnder modulator 1 comprises waveguides 11, 12 and a differential high-frequency line 14. The differential terminator 3 comprises a differential high-frequency line 29 and terminating resistors 35, 36. The differential high-frequency line 29 is made to have capacitance between signal lines and/or between the signal lines and ground lines.
