Abstract:
Disclosed is an optical module (1) provided with a light source (11) and an optical fiber (12) having a core (21) which propagates an optical signal emitted from the light source (11). The core (21) contains, longitudinally along the core (21), at least one scattering region (31) where UV light of uniform intensity in the length direction of said core (21) is irradiated. When an optical signal traverses the scattering region (31), the scattering region (31) uses a portion of the optical signal to generate radially-scattered light from the scattering region (31) toward the outside of the optical fiber (12).
