Abstract:
Disclosed in the present application are an optical module and a network device. The optical module comprises: a multi-mode light source, a mode filtering apparatus and a coupling apparatus, wherein the mode filtering apparatus is close to the multi-mode light source and is used for filtering out modes, other than a required mode, from a multi-mode optical signal output by the multi-mode light source; and one end of the coupling apparatus is close to the mode filtering apparatus, and the other end of the coupling apparatus is close to a multi-mode fiber, so as to couple an optical signal, which is output by the mode filtering apparatus, to the multi-mode fiber. On the basis of the optical module provided in the present application, optical signals in a small number of modes can be transmitted in a multi-mode fiber, thereby reducing the influence of inter-mode chromatic dispersion to a greater extent, such that the transmission rate of the optical signals in the multi-mode fiber can be increased on the basis that the transmission distance is kept unchanged.
