Abstract:
[Problem] To reduce device cost and power consumption. [Solution] Each of nodes 11a - 11d as optical add/drop multiplexers comprises: AWGs 24a, 24b which are connected between optical transmission paths, which are optical fibers 12, 13, and transponders 25a - 25n, output optical signals of the optical transmission paths from ports to the transponders 25a - 25n, and transmit optical signals from the transponders 25a - 25n via the ports to the optical transmission paths; and an optical coupler 24c which couples or splits the ports of the AWGs 24a, 24b and connects the same to the transponders 25a - 25n. The channel spacing of the ports of the AWGs 24a, 24b are integer multiples of the channel spacing of the ports of the transponders 25a - 25n, and a plurality of transponder signals of different wavelengths which are inputted to and outputted from one or a plurality of the transponders 25a - 25n can pass through the ports of the AWGs 24a, 24b.
