Abstract:
The signal pulse of a signal pulse light source (11) and the sampling pulse of a
sampling pulse light source (10) are introduced into an optical fiber (20). A
photoreceptor (33) measures the optical power which was passed through the optical
fiber (20). A photoreceptor (31) measures the power of the light which was passed
through the optical fiber (20) and further through a 0-degree polarizer (51).
A photoreceptor (32) measures the power of the light which was passed through
the optical fiber (20) and further through a 90-degree polarizer (40) and an optical
filter (70). An operation unit (80) calculates an optical noise (OSNRout)
sampled after the 90-degree polarizer, from the optical power measured at the
photoreceptors (31, 32 and 33), to calculate an optical noise index (NF).
