Abstract:
The present invention reduces the cost for operating an optical path network by reducing the number of cores of an optical fiber, or reducing equipment cost for an optical switch or the like and reducing rack space for installing same. An optical path network which bi-directionally connects at least three connection points 1 to N by optical fibers according to the present invention comprises: (a) a wavelength multiplexer 6 which multiplexes optical signals of different wavelengths transmitted from the respective connection points 1 to N through optical fibers OF-1 to OF-N and outputs a wavelength-multiplexed signal to a single-core optical fiber OF-A; (b) a wavelength demultiplexer 7 which divides the wavelength-multiplexed signal received from the wavelength multiplexer into optical signals of different wavelengths and outputs the optical signals; and (c) an optical switch 3 which transmits each of the optical signals of different wavelengths received from the wavelength demultiplexer, to each of the connection points assigned with corresponding wavelengths, and which connects to the connection points by optical fibers OF-B1 to BN independent of each other.
