Abstract:
Provided is an optical pickup which can sufficiently correct an aberration due
to a positional shift with other aberrations as well, in the case where the positional
shift between a liquid crystal panel and an objective lens is generated. The optical
pickup is provided with a liquid crystal panel (2), which corrects the coma aberration
generated due to inclination of the information recording plane of an optical
disc (DK) from the optical axis of an optical beam (B), at the time of applying the
optical beam (B) to the information recording plane; a memory (7a) which previously
stores shift quantity information indicating a shift quantity of the status
of an optical axis (CL) of an objective lens (1) from a reference status; a CPU (7)
which calculates astigmatism included in the optical beam (B) due to the shift,
based on the shift quantity information; the liquid crystal panel (2) for correcting
the calculated astigmatism; and a CPU (7) for controlling the liquid crystal
panel (2) to correct the astigmatism and the coma aberration by the liquid crystal
panel (2).
