Abstract:
An optical propagation system comprising an optical transmitter, an optical receiver, and a relay amplification device for amplifying and relaying optical signals, wherein: the optical transmitter and the relay amplification device are connected by a first multi-core fiber; the optical receiver and the relay amplification device are connected by a second multi-core fiber; and the relay device is provided with a branch unit for branching optical signals propagated using the cores of the first multi-core fiber into a plurality of single-core fibers, a spectrum inversion unit for performing optical parametric amplification of the optical signals branched into the single-core fibers using excitation light and outputting phase-conjugated light of the optical signals generated through the optical parametric amplification, and a merging unit for merging the phase-conjugated light of the optical signals outputted from the spectrum inversion unit and outputting the merged light to the second multi-core fiber.
