Abstract:

Provided is an optical reading device for identifying an identification medium using cholesteric liquid crystal, wherein the optical reading device is structure so as not to require a movable part in switching of a circular polarizing filter. An optical reading device for reading an image from an identification medium in which a cholesteric liquid crystal layer subjected to hologram processing and an ink printing pattern layer are arranged in sequence, wherein the optical reading device is provided with a light-emitting part (12) in which a right-hand circular polarizing filter (14) is arranged in front of an LED (20), a light-emitting part (13) in which a right-hand circular polarizing filter (17) is arranged in front of an LED (21), and a control part (26) for switching the light emission of the light-emitting parts (12, 13).
