Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an optical receiver capable of cost-effectively obtaining an error correction capability equal to or greater than the capability obtained using an error correction code. [Solution] An optical receiver 2 which receives an optical signal including an error correction code includes: an optical splitter 12 which splits the received optical signal into three optical signals and outputs the resulting three optical signals; three first, second and third optical receiving circuits 13, 14, 15 into each of which one of the three split optical signals is input, which operate independently of one another, and which subject the input optical signals to signal processing including an identification and reproduction process and an error correction process that employs the error correction code; and a bit determining circuit 19 which subjects the three error-corrected signals output from each of the three first, second and third optical receiving circuits 13, 14, 15 to a majority decision on a bit-by-bit basis, and outputs a signal that has been determined to be correct.
