Abstract:
[Problem] To miniaturize this optical receiver using a polarization demultiplexing technology. [Solution] An optical receiver 100A, which receives a polarization multiplexed signal in which two optical signals are orthogonally polarization multiplexed, is provided with: an IL1 which branches the polarization multiplexed signal into two transmission signals that become asymmetric with respect to optical transmission characteristics; O/Es 2a, 2b which convert the branched transmission signals into electrical signals; a down sampler 3 which down-samples the converted electric signals and generates low speed digital signals; a calculator 4 which calculates coefficients of a polarization demultiplexing matrix from the generated low-speed digital signals; a level adjustor 5A which adjusts the signal levels of the converted electrical signals according to the calculated coefficients and generates a plurality of adjustment signals; adders 6Aa, 6Ab which add the generated adjustment signals and generate addition signals; and identifiers 7a, 7b which recover and extract two optical signals from the generated addition signals.
