Abstract:
The coupling efficiency greatly varies with the precision of an optical fiber
connector to which an optical receptacle is fitted. Because of such variation
of the coupling efficiency, the optical output of a transmission module of receptacle
type including a semiconductor laser varies. When the output greatly varies
like this, the transmission module cannot conform with the standard. That is,
such a transmission/reception module is a defective product. An optical receptacle
has a fiber stub where a single-mode optical fiber is fixed. The high-order mode
cutoff wavelength of the single-mode optical fiber is shorter than the wavelength
of the light propagating through the optical receptacle by 100 to 500 nm.
