The present invention, in which optical recording is performed, is provided with: a step in which first holographic multiplex recording is performed by shining a plurality of first signal beams and a plurality of first reference beams continuously over time, in a state in which the respective polarization states thereof are changed, on a prescribed recording region of a recording medium that has a polarization-sensitive layer comprising a material that exhibits photoinduced birefringence, in which exposure to light causes refractive-index anisotropy; and a step in which second holographic multiplex recording is performed by exposing the aforementioned recording region of the recording medium, in a state in which the Bragg conditions of said recording medium are changed continuously over time, to a plurality of second signal beams and a plurality of second reference beams each synchronized with the changes in the Bragg conditions of the recording medium.
