Abstract:
This optical sensor detects light from a paper sheet on which is printed at least one type of monochromatic ink from among n-types of monochromatic ink, the optical sensor comprising: a light source; a light receiving unit provided with first through (n-1)-th light receiving elements; a storage unit that stores correction values based on reference data obtained as a result of light emitted by the first through the n-th monochromatic inks being received by the light receiving unit independently for each type of the monochromatic inks; and a correction processing unit that uses the correction values to perform correction processing on detection data, which is obtained as a result of light emitted by the paper sheet that has been irradiated with light from the light source being received by the light receiving unit.
