Abstract:
An atypical substrate is used to form a mounting substrate 29 for mounting a plurality of laser diodes (LD) 25, which convert electrical signals into optical signals, and emit light of the optical signals. A fixing groove 55 for fixing an optical fibre 27 is integrally formed in the mounting substrate 29. Furthermore, an optical element holding part 56 for fixing each optical element (a first lens 60, a prism 61, and a second lens 62) of an optical coupling unit 28, which converts the optical axes of the light emitted from the LD 25 and guides the light to an end surface of the optical fibre 27, is integrally formed in the mounting substrate.
