Abstract:
Without annealing an optical storage medium (4), annealing management information (40-1) is recorded in an annealing management area (40) of the optical storage medium, and the optical storage medium is provided to a user. When the user selects annealing of the optical storage medium, high-density recording /reproduction can be performed thanks to the annealing effect of the area between recoding tracks. By eliminating the annealing, the storage medium manufacturer can provide a medium at a low price. Since it is unnecessary to deepen the groove of the substrate used for the medium, the manufacture of the substrate is easy. If advertisement information is recorded in a pit portion of the area to be annealed, the advertisement information can be reproduced during annealing, and the medium price can be supplemented by the advertisement expenditure.
