Abstract:
This optical system is equipped with: a first expansion region for expanding by increasing the number of beams of light by splitting and replicating a beam of light advancing in a first direction into a beam of light advancing in a second direction, which intersects the first direction; and a second expansion region which corresponds to the image-visible region and expands by increasing the number of beams of light by splitting and replicating the beams of light advancing in the second direction. The first expansion region has a center region which includes the center of the first expansion region, and an end-section region which is located on one or more ends of the first expansion region and in which the diffracted light amount is smaller than half the diffracted light amount inside the center region.
