Abstract:
Provided is a technology that is suitable for both widening an image capture field angle and securing angular resolution over the entire image capturing range. In an image capture optical system of the present invention: the rate of change of the image height per unit field angle, or dy/dθ, is larger than 0 at a maximum field angle θmax; and the rate of change of the field angle per unit image height, or D(θ) = 1/(dy(θ)/dθ), is configured such that θp, which satisfies expression D(θp) > {(D(θmax) - D(0))/ θmaxθ}θp + D(0), lies in a range of 0 <θ <θmax, and such that a switching field angle θs of the rate of change of the field angle per unit image height D(θ) satisfies expression 1.5 < (y(θs)/θs)/{(y(θmax) - y(θs))/(θmax - θs)} < 3.0.
