Abstract:
An optical tracking system comprising a reference marker unit, a shape measurement unit, a tracking sensor unit, and a processing unit. The reference marker unit is fixedly arranged relative to a patient. The shape measurement unit measures the three-dimensional shape of a prescribed part of the patient, corresponding to a three-dimensional image. The tracking sensor unit senses the reference marker unit and the shape measurement unit. The processing unit obtains, on the basis of the result sensed by the tracking sensor unit, the coordinate conversion relation between the reference marker and the tracking sensor unit, and the coordinate conversion relation between the shape measurement unit and the tracking sensor unit, and obtains, on the basis of the result measured by the shape measurement unit, the coordinate conversion relation between the prescribed part of the patient and the shape measurement unit, and thus defines, from the obtained coordinate conversion relations, the coordinates of the patient relative to the reference marker unit. Thus, a patient or a surgical tool can be accurately and easily tracked in a shorter amount of time and at a lower cost.
