Abstract:
Disclosed is an optical type displacement detecting device which includes: a scale (4) having first modulation code patterns (51, 53a) and second modulation code patterns (52, 53b) formed thereon; a sensor head (30), which has a first optical detector (21), which detects an optical beam outputted from a light source (1) by means of first modulation code patterns (51, 53a) and generates first signals, and a second optical detector (22), which detects the optical beam by means of the second modulation code patterns (52, 53b), and generates second signals; and a physical quantity detecting circuit (210), which calculates displacement on the basis of the first signals and the second signals. The first signals and the second signals include first components which are offset by means of a predetermined operation, and second components which are left after the predetermined operation. The detection by means of the first detector (21) and the detection by means of the second detector (22) are performed by being associated with each other.
