Abstract:
Provided are an optically anisotropic layer, an alignment substrate, a layered body, and a method for manufacturing an optically anisotropic layer, the optically anisotropic layer being such that when the optically anisotropic layer is formed using a composition that includes a liquid crystal compound having radical polymerizable groups on a surface thereof, the formed optically anisotropic layer peels easily, and the formed optically anisotropic layer has excellent alignment properties. This optically anisotropic layer is formed using a composition that includes a liquid crystal compound and a compound having a group selected from the group consisting of a phenolic hydroxyl group, an amino group, a thiol group, a phosphoric acid group, a sulfonic acid group, and a carboxy group, the liquid crystal compound having a specific functional group selected from the group consisting of an epoxy group and an oxetanyl group and not having either an acryloyl group or a methacryloyl group, and having a liquid crystal alignment pattern in which the orientation of an optical axis derived from the liquid crystal compound is continuously rotated along at least one in-plane direction.
