Title:
OPTO-ELECTRONIC MEASURING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO1999017135
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to an opto-electronic measuring device, especially a velocity measuring device for traffic control. The measuring device contains an emitting device for emitting a sequence of laser impulses and a receiving device which receives signals reflected by targets located in the beam path of the emitting device. In addition, a signal processing step is provided in which said signals are amplified, eventually converted and preferably digitized. A processor is also provided which determines distance values from the echo signals in conjunction with start impulses and calculates the velocity of the target located in the beam path from at least two distance values and the accompanying measuring times. A sighting device has an optical axis which is essentially parallel to the optical axis of the emitting device and serves to align the measuring device with a target. Said sighting device comprises a graticule with an especially cross-shaped mark for a field which defines a solid angle. The solid angle corresponds to the open angle of the emitting device beam in addition to reliable adjustment tolerances. The sighting device can additionally or alternatively comprise an image providing opto-electronic array arranged in the beam path of the emitting device. An image which is side or height reversed, can be projected on said array by means of the optical system of the emitting device. A display, such as a LCD display, is provided for displaying a target image, the measurement data and optional additional data relevant to measurements. In addition, an image processing step is provided in which the video signals of the array are processed such that an upright and right reading image is generated on the display. The image processing step is connected to the processor of the measuring device and measurement data and eventually additional data are connected to the video signal such that the data on the display appears superimposed on the image.
