Title:
ORALLY ADMINISTERED ADSORBENT, THERAPEUTIC AGENT FOR RENAL DISEASE, AND THERAPEUTIC AGENT FOR LIVER DISEASE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/129616
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide an orally administered adsorbent capable of adsorbing large quantities of tryptophan or indoxyl sulfate in the presence of bile acid. Accordingly, an orally administered adsorbent is characterized by including spherical active carbon which has: an average bulk density of 0.4-0.6 g/mL; and a volume of pores having diameters in the range 1.5-2.0 nm, said volume being obtained using the Saito-Foley (SF) method by way of nitrogen adsorption, which satisfies formula (1), namely y > 6×10-8x2-9×10-5x+0.0241 (in formula (1): y represents the volume (mL/g) of pores having diameters in the range 1.5-2.0 nm, said volume being obtained using the SF method by way of nitrogen adsorption; and x represents the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface area (m2/g)).
