Title:
ORGAN-ON-A-CHIP HAVING INVERTED MICRO-WEIR, AND USE THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2024/025177
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an organ-on-a-chip having an inverted micro-weir structure, and use thereof. By using an organ-on-a-chip for evaluating drug efficacy and toxicity, provided in the present invention, the limitation of a conventional two-dimensional in-vitro cell culture method in which a human microenvironment cannot be mimicked and inaccuracies caused by differences between species in animal testing can be overcome, and more accurate efficacy and toxicity results for cells treated with drugs can be achieved. Therefore, by being used as an alternative testing method to animal testing, the present invention can drastically reduce the costs and time required for new drug development and drug screening, and can be effectively used in research on cellular microenvironments, research on other organ-on-a-chips, new drug development, research on drug metabolism mechanisms, and the like.
