Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing an organic compound having a small refractive index. The present invention also provides a novel organic compound having a small refractive index and an electron-donating property. The present invention also provides an EL element having high luminous efficiency. Provided are: an organic compound having an arylamine or acridine backbone containing a fluorine atom; and an EL device manufactured using the organic compound. The EL device preferably has a hole injection layer which contains an organic compound having an arylamine or acridine backbone containing a fluorine atom and a substance capable of accepting an electron from the organic compound.
