Abstract:
Provided are: an organic electroluminescence element having long life and in which voltage increase and efficiency reduction after being driven for a long period of time are suppressed; and a display device and lighting device provided with the element. An organic electroluminescence element having a light-emitting layer sandwiched between an anode and a cathode, and a plurality of organic layers that include the light-emitting layer, wherein the organic electroluminescence element is characterized in that the light-emitting layer contains a phosphorescent light-emitting compound, and a host compound A and host compound B that satisfy the relationship of the formulas below and the requirement (11) below. Host compound A = X + nR1
Host compound B = X + mR2
(11) [HOMO energy level of host compound A] – [HOMO energy level of host compound B] ≥ 0.15 eV
