Abstract:
An organic EL element (1) according to the present invention comprises a first light emitting layer (51) and a second light emitting layer (52); the ratio (DEM1/DEM2) of the film thickness DEM1 of the first light emitting layer (51) to the film thickness DEM2 of the second light emitting layer (52) is 2/3 to 3/2; a first host material contained in the first light emitting layer (51) and a second host material and a third host material contained in the second light emitting layer (52) satisfy the relational expression of mathematical formulae (mathematical formula 1) and (mathematical formula 2); the second host material is a compound represented by general formula (H20); and the third host material is a compound represented by general formula (H30). In the formulae, T1 (H1), T1 (H2) and T1 (H3) respectively represent the triplet energies of the first, second and third host materials. (Mathematical formula 1): T1 (H1) > T1 (H2)
