Abstract:
Provided is an organic electroluminescent element which has achieved white light having high color rendering properties and is thus particularly suitable for use as a light source for lighting devices. This organic electroluminescent element comprises a plurality of light emitting units, each of which contains a light emitting layer that is formed of at least an organic compound and disposed between a negative electrode and a positive electrode. White light which is obtained by light emission from the plurality of light emitting units has an emission spectrum (S) that continues at least over the wavelength range from 380 nm to 780 nm, and has one peak wavelength (p1) in the red wavelength range (R) of 600-640 nm, one peak wavelength (p2) in the green wavelength range (G) of 500-540 nm and two peak wavelengths (p3, p4) in the blue wavelength range (B) of 440-490 nm in this emission spectrum (S).
