Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to provide an organic electroluminescent element which has improved luminous efficiency by suppressing the occurrence of a short-circuit and deterioration of storage stability in a high-temperature high-humidity atmosphere caused by the recessed and projected state of the surface of a gas barrier layer, a light diffusion layer or the like that is in contact with a light emitting unit.
An organic electroluminescent element (100, 400) of the present invention comprises, on a film substrate (4), at least a gas barrier layer (5), a smooth layer (1) and a light emitting unit (3), which is sandwiched between a pair of electrodes (2, 6) and has an organic functional layer, in this order in a laminated state. This organic electroluminescent element (100, 400) is characterized in that the gas barrier layer (5) is configured of at least two kinds of gas barrier layers (5) that are different from each other in the composition or distribution state of the constituent elements.
