Abstract:
[Solution] The present invention relates to an organic iridium complex for an organic electroluminescent element, in which a C-N ligand and an auxiliary ligand are coordinated with iridium. In this organic iridium complex, a 2-(dibenzo[b,d]thiophene-4-yl)quinolinate ligand into which at least one methyl group is introduced is coordinated as the C-N ligand, and the organic iridium complex is represented by the formula. The organic iridium complex pertaining to the present invention is suitable as a red-light-emitting phosphorescent material for an OLED, and has high light emission quantum yield ΦPL and excellent color purity. (In the formula, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, and R7 are each either a methyl group or a hydrogen atom. However, at least any one of R1, R2, R3, and R4 is a methyl group. X-Y is the auxiliary ligand.)
