The present invention relates to an organic sulfur compound preparation method, and more specifically to an organic sulfur compound preparation method in which an organic sulfur compound is synthesized by reacting a specific compound with metal hypohalite in the presence of a reaction solvent and a ruthenium catalyst, wherein, for the reaction solvent, a water-insoluble organic solvent is used alone, or a mixed solvent comprising water and a water-soluble organic solvent is used, the water-insoluble organic solvent and the water-soluble organic solvent being polar aprotic organic solvents having a dielectric constant of at most 30. According to the present invention, the advantage is achieved of providing an organic sulfur compound preparation method whereby reaction stability is excellent while the reaction time is reduced, and side reactions are few, and thus the yield of the organic sulfur compound is high, and by using, as the reaction solvent, an organic solvent which may be separated from water into separate layers, the solvent recovery rate is also high, and the solvent may be reused.
