Abstract:

Organic EL devices excellent in lifetime, luminous efficiency, color conversion efficiency, and so on, which each contain at least one organometallic complex selected from among (1) organometallic complexes which each comprise a rhenium atom, an anionic ligand containing a nitrogen atom and an oxygen atom which coordinate to the rhenium atom and having at least one &pgr -conjugated moiety, and a ligand coordinating to the rhenium atom in such a way that the coordination number of the rhenium atom is saturated and the whole electric charge is kept neutral, (2) organometallic complexes which each comprise a rhenium atom, an anionic ligand containing a nitrogen atom and a carbon atom which coordinate to the rhenium atom and having at least one &pgr -conjugated moiety, and a ligand coordinating to the rhenium atom in such a way that the coordination number of the rhenium atom is saturated and the whole electric charge is kept neutral, and (3) organometallic complexes which each comprise at least one Group 8 metal atom selected from among Group 8 metal elements, an anionic ligand which has at least one &pgr -conjugated moiety and coordinates to the metal atom, and a ligand which is selected from among aliphatic and heteroaromatic dithiolato ligands and coordinates to the metal atom.
