Abstract:
An orientation adjusting mechanism for an optical component which orients an optical surface of the optical component in a given direction by oscillating the optical surface with a given central point as a pivot point, wherein the orientation adjusting mechanism comprises: an electromechanical transducer which expands and contracts in an axial direction in accordance with a given voltage applied thereto, and has one end section side fixed; a drive shaft provided at the other end section side of the electromechanical transducer, which moves back and forth in the axial direction in accordance with the expanding and contracting of the electromechanical transducer; and a support means which supports the optical component to be capable of oscillating with a given central point as a pivot point. The support means includes a moving piece that is positioned on the outer circumference side of the optical component away from the given central point, and the moving piece is in frictional engagement with the drive shaft. When the electromechanical transducer expands and contracts slowly, the moving piece moves back and forth with the drive shaft, and when the electromechanical transducer expands and contracts sharply, the moving piece slides with respect to the drive shaft. The orientation of the optical component is adjusted by means of the outer circumference side of the optical component moving back and forth in the axial direction in accordance with the back and forth movement and the sliding movement of the moving piece.
