Abstract:
Disclosed is an orthodontic appliance, wherein the shape of a cap for preventing drop-off of an orthodontic wire is simplified, the orthodontic appliance including the cap is thinned while retaining the strength thereof for preventing breakage, and the insertion of the orthodontic wire is facilitated not only in labial orthodontics but also in lingual orthodontics to thereby shorten the treatment time and improve the handling properties.
The orthodontic appliance comprises: an orthodontic bracket body (1) in which a top-open groove (10) for passing a wire therethrough is transversally formed; a cap body (2) having a roughly U-shaped cross-section and being fittable to the orthodontic bracket body (1) from the rear end of the orthodontic bracket body (1) so as to cover the groove (10); and a fastening member (4) for coupling the orthodontic bracket body (1) and the cap body (2) in such a manner as not to interfere the orthodontic wire (3) having been passed through the groove (10).
