Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a novel actuator capable of securing a stoppage and retention force when not energized, and producing a stable, responsive and highly-durable rocking arm even for a non-rare earth magnet. [Solution] The actuator is constituted by a housing; a shaft supported for axial rotation in the housing; a flat, plate like oscillating arm which is fixed to and supported by the shaft, and oscillates about a center of a circle within a prescribed range of rotation; two permanent magnets with opposite polarities, juxtaposed along the oscillating direction of the oscillating arm; two electromagnetic coils respectively arranged facing the pole surfaces at both sides of the permanent magnets via air gaps; and a pair of interpoles made of magnetic materials arranged opposite one of the juxtaposed permanent magnets so as to sandwich the permanent magnet with the air gap in the proximity of both ends of the oscillation stroke in the outer periphery of each electromagnetic coil. The position where the pair of interpoles and the permanent magnet are opposite each other is preferably arranged in the proximity of the edge of the juxtaposed permanent magnets outside the oscillation.
