Abstract:
The present technology relates to an oscillation device and an oscillation method for making it possible to keep a frequency variation of a clock signal within a predetermined range without using a reference clock signal. The oscillation device according to a first aspect of the present technology is provided with: an oscillation unit which generates a clock signal; an adjustment unit which adjusts the frequency of the clock signal by modifying parameters of constituent elements of the oscillation unit; and a calibration control unit which, if the frequency variation of the clock signal generated by the oscillation unit is in a second range exceeding a first range permitted for the use of the clock signal, controls the adjustment unit to perform frequency calibration of the oscillation unit. The present technology may be applied in a system in which a certain range of variation is permitted for a transmission rate, or a system in which a certain range of variation is permitted for a sampling (clock) frequency with respect to a predetermined transmission rate.
