Abstract:
An out-of-step detection relay (810) detects an out-of-step condition in an installation zone on the basis of the voltage phase difference between the voltages of bus lines (A, B) at both ends of a power transmission line (803). The out-of-step detection relay (810) has a voltage memory (811) for, when an input voltage is compared with a predetermined threshold value and it is found that the input voltage drops down to the threshold value, storing the magnitude and phase of the input voltage during a certain period of time from a time point when the input voltage drops to the threshold value. When an out-of-step condition is detected on the basis of the magnitude of the input voltage and the voltage phase difference and the input voltage drops down to the threshold voltage, the out-of-step detection relay (810) detects an out-of-step condition on the basis of the magnitude of the input voltage and the voltage phase difference, which are output from the voltage memory (811) during the certain period of time.
