Description:
OUTDOOR PIPE LIGHTER

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

The present invention can be included within the technical field of articles for smokers, and in particular in the field of articles for pipe smokers. More specifically, the object of the invention relates to an outdoor pipe lighter which allows a user to light a pipe in adverse wind, rain conditions, etc.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

It is known that the traditional way of lighting tobacco inside a pipe requires a lot of effort and care, especially in outdoor environments where there is wind, humidity or rain that make it difficult to generate and maintain the fire needed to light the pipe.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to an outdoor pipe lighter designed such that wind or rain do not hinder the lighting of the fire. This invention may be used in both indoor and outdoor environments by people who like to smoke with a pipe.

The lighter comprises an elongated container for housing a flammable material in an anteroposterior direction, a front end with a front opening, an upper opening, a lower base and two lateral faces.

A ferrocerium rod is located posteriorly inside the container. Each of the two lateral faces comprises a slot corresponding to the rod. Likewise, a rough bar is housed in the slots, which passes through the lateral faces and protrudes from said slots, wherein the rough bar is movable along the slots to rub against the rod, generate sparks and ignite the flammable material.

At the front of the lower base there is a hole, which makes it possible to couple a pipe bowl and discharge the ignited flammable material into the pipe. The flammable material is preferably selected from rags, tinder, thistle, or dried fungi, all of which are dry to ensure that any spark can ignite the flammable material.

Once the flammable material has been introduced inside the container, the friction between the rough bar and the rod produces sparks that ignite the flammable material. Next, the ignited flammable material is discharged, through the hole at the base of the container, into the pipe bowl, so that it ignites the tobacco previously deposited in the pipe chamber.

The main objective of the present invention is to facilitate the lighting of tobacco contained in a pipe chamber under extreme wind and rain conditions during outdoor activities, since it makes it possible to easily and quickly achieve the friction necessary to generate sparks and light the tobacco in a comfortable manner and regardless of the external environmental conditions. DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

As a complement to the description provided below, and for the purpose of helping to make the characteristics of the invention more readily understandable, in accordance with a preferred practical exemplary embodiment thereof, said description is accompanied by a single figure constituting an integral part of the same, which by way of illustration and not limitation represents the following:

Figure 1 : shows a side view of the outdoor pipe lighter object of the invention.

PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION

With the help of the aforementioned figure 1 , a detailed description of a preferred exemplary embodiment of the outdoor pipe lighter object of the present invention is provided below.

The lighter comprises an elongated container (1 ) for starting the fire, with a front end. The container (1 ) further comprises an upper end, provided with an upper opening (6), and a cover (8) to cover the upper opening (6) at least partially (preferably entirely). The container (1 ) further comprises a lower end, wherein a base is located. Finally, the container (1 ) further comprises lateral ends with corresponding opposite lateral faces.

A ferrocerium rod (2) is connected to the base and to the cover (8), near a rear end of the container (1 ) opposite the front end. Preferably, the rod (2) is affixed to the base and to the cover (8) in a removable manner, for example by means of a lower connection (71 ) and an upper connection (72). The rod (2) has an angle of inclination with respect to the anteroposterior direction. The angle of inclination can be zero, although it is preferred for such angle of inclination not to be zero. In particular, an angle of inclination oriented towards the front end is preferred, as shown in figure 1 .

In the lateral faces there are corresponding slots (4) located corresponding to the rod (2). A rough bar (3), made from iron, for example, is housed in the slots (4), passes through the container (1 ) from one lateral end to the other, and protrudes from both lateral ends through the slots (4). The rough bar (3) is movable along the slots (4) to rub against the rod (2) and generate sparks.

The slots (4) are preferably oriented according to the same angle of inclination as the rod (2).

The base comprises a hole in its front end to house the upper part of a pipe bowl (9).

To operate the lighter, any available dry flammable material (12), such as tinder, rags, etc., is introduced inside the container (1 ) through the upper opening (6). Next, the rough bar (3) is taken from both ends and, if necessary, it is repeatedly slid along the slots (4), making it rub against the rod (2) until sparks are produced and the flammable material (12) is ignited. Once ignited, the flammable material (12) is taken out from the container through the front opening and is discharged into the pipe bowl (9) to light tobacco (5) previously deposited in the pipe chamber (10).
