In an outdoor unit (1) for an air conditioner, a fan (4), a compressor (3), and electrical component box (5) are accommodated within a housing (20). An electrical board (6) is accommodated within the electrical component box (5). The inside of the housing (20) is divided by a partition section (23) into a fan chamber (21) in which the fan (4) is accommodated and into a machine chamber (22) in which the compressor (3) is accommodated. The electrical component box (5) has a horizontal section (5a) which is provided above the compressor (3), and a vertical section (5b) which extends downward from the horizontal section (5a). The electrical board (6) has a horizontal board section (6a) which is accommodated within the horizontal section (5a), a vertical board section (6b) which is accommodated within the vertical section (5b), and a connection section which electrically connects the horizontal board section (6a) and the vertical board section (6b). The partition section (23) is constituted by: a partition wall (2) extending from the bottom surface (20a) of the housing (20) and having a height not reaching the top surface (20b) of the housing (20); and a vertical section (5b) for closing between the partition wall (2) and the top surface (20b).
