Abstract:
An outdoor unit (1) is provided with: a compressor (3) for compressing a refrigerant; a fan (2) for delivering outdoor air to a heat exchanger; a circuit section (4a) having a converter section (41) which has a reactor (5) for boosting a DC voltage, and by which AC power supplied from an AC power source is converted to DC power, the circuit section (4a) also having an inverter section (42) which converts DC power to AC power and which operates the compressor (3); a housing (10) for accommodating the compressor (3), the fan (2), and the circuit section (4a); a separator (6) for dividing the space within the housing (10) into a fan-side space (11) and a circuit section-side space (12); and a fan unit (8) having a Peltier device which is installed on the reactor (5), a fan motor which is operated by power generated by the Peltier device, and a cooling fan which is driven by the fan motor and which blows cooling air against the circuit section (4a), the fan unit (8) being installed in the circuit section-side space (12), the circuit section-side space (12) being a closed space.
