Abstract:
An outer handle device for a vehicle door, in which an ornamental cover is mounted onto an outer surface, on the vehicle width outer side, of a handle body that constitutes part of an outer handle and is disposed on the outer side of an outer panel, wherein: a mounting groove (34) having a substantially U-shaped cross-section composed of a bottom wall (35) along the up/down direction and a pair of side walls (36, 37) linking to the upper and lower ends of the bottom wall is formed on a vehicle width outer side surface of the handle body; and a plurality of support projections (39) that abut against the ornamental cover (38) inserted into the mounting groove and that form a first gap between the bottom wall and the ornamental cover are provided projecting out on the bottom wall while being disposed at least one by one in the periphery of a plurality of injection holes (44, 45, 46, 47) provided in the bottom wall in order to inject an adhesive for filling the first gap. Due to this configuration, it is possible to keep the amount of adhesive used low, reduce costs, reliably fix the place of contact of the ornamental cover with the handle body, and curb the occurrence of noise.
