Abstract:

An oven appliance (10), comprising a cabinet (12), a plurality of chamber walls (52, 54, 56, 58), a cooking surface (62), a top heating element (42), a temperature sensors (64, 66) and a controller (50). The cooking surface (62) may be defined in a cooking chamber (14). The top heating element (42) may be mounted above the cooking surface (62) for heating the cooking chamber (14). The temperature sensors (64, 66) may be arranged in the cabinet (12). The controller (50) may be configured to initiate a cooking operation, which comprises initiating preheat activation of the top heating element (42), receiving a temperature signal from the temperature sensors (64, 66) during preheat activation, determining whether a preheat threshold (HP1) is met on the basis of the received temperature signal, and after it is determined that the preheat threshold (HP1) is met, initiating cooking activation of the top heating element (42) on the basis of a cooking cycle (CC) having a predetermined time interval. Initiating cooking activation may comprise directing and controlling the top heating element (42) in the predetermined time interval on the basis of the cooking cycle (CC).
