Abstract:
An overhead transport vehicle 3 transports an FOUP 80 while traveling along a rail 2 provided overhead in a building. The overhead transport vehicle 3 comprises a holding rack and an upper shelf loading unit 40. The holding rack holds at least one of the side surface 83 and the bottom surface 81 of the FOUP 80. The upper shelf loading unit 40 transfers the holding rack at least upward while holding the FOUP 80. The upper shelf loading unit 40 transfers the holding rack from a holding position, which is a position of the holding rack during transportation while holding the FOUP 80, to an upper loading position, which is a position to load the FOUP 80 and is a position that is higher than the holding position and different in position in a plan view from the holding position.
