Abstract:
The present invention is configured so that contact with a rail does not occur when an article moves up and down between a pair of rails that constitute a track (10) for a local cart (8). An overhead traveling vehicle (4) and the local cart (8) are respectively provided with hoists (22, 27) and travel directly over loading ports (16, 17). The track (10) for the local cart (8) is made from a pair of rails that are directly under the track (6) for the overhead traveling vehicle (4). Articles are transported between the pair of rails in the upward and downward directions using the hoist (22) of the overhead traveling vehicle (4). A sensor (40) for detecting an article that is swaying within a plane that is parallel to the lengthwise direction of the track (10) for the local cart (8) in a direction that is perpendicular thereto is provided at least to the bottom section of the track (10) for the local cart (8) at a position that is removed from the lifting/lowering path of an article when said article is not swaying. When the sensor (40) detects a swaying article, the hoists (22, 27) of the overhead traveling vehicle (4) and the local cart (8) are made to cease lowering/lifting.
