Title:
OVERHEAT PROTECTION DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2004/017507
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
An overheat protection device of a DC current device has a shot key barrier diode (17) as a temperature change detection element instead of a thermostat, thermistor, posistor, and the like. The shot key barrier diode (17) is placed in a position where a temperature change is to be detected. A reverse-direction voltage is applied to the shot key barrier diode (17). The shot key barrier diode (17) is connected to the gate of a thyristor (18). The thyristor (18) is connected in parallel to a control power source capacitor (C2) via a resistor (20). When the shot key barrier diode (17) is overheated, the reverse-direction current is increased and the thyristor (18) is triggered. When the thyristor (18) is electrically connected, the control power source is cut off. As a result, the turning on/off operation of a main switch (Q1) stops, thereby protecting the DC current device from overheat.
