An overload protection device used for a high-speed dental handpiece, and a corresponding dental handpiece. The overload protection device comprises a valve body (1), a piston (2), an elastic member (3), and a valve plug (4). The valve body (1) is provided with an air chamber (101) and an air inlet passage (103) communicated with each other. The piston (2) is provided in the air chamber (101). The valve plug (4) is provided on one end, distant from the air inlet passage (103), of the air chamber (101) and is connected to the valve body (1). The elastic member (3) is provided between the piston (2) and the valve plug (4). The outer surface of the valve body (1) is provided with a plurality of air outlets (102) communicated with the air chamber (101). The air outlets (102) can be opened or closed when the piston (2) moves up and down in the air chamber (101). The protection device is simple in structure, convenient to process, and low in costs, and can automatically adjust the pressure of the air delivered from a drive pipe to a rotating device of the dental handpiece so that the rotation speed of the dental handpiece is always in a normal use range, thereby implementing overload protection and guaranteeing the service life of a bearing and the dental handpiece.
