Abstract:
An overvoltage protection apparatus for an air conditioner, comprising: a protection component, which is connected in series between an inputted alternating-current terminal and a first input terminal of a rectifier; a controllable switch, which is connected in parallel to the protection component; a voltage sampler that samples a direct-current voltage outputted by the rectifier; an electrolytic capacitor; a control circuit, which controls the controllable switch to cut off when the direct-current voltage is greater than the upper limit of a predetermined safe voltage range, thus allowing the protection component to be connected in series between the alternating-current terminal and the first input terminal of the rectifier, and regulates the operating frequency of a compressor by controlling an IPM module when the direct-current voltage is less than the lower limit of the predetermined safe voltage range, thus allowing the direct-current voltage to be kept within the predetermined safe voltage range. The overvoltage protection apparatus is capable of providing overvoltage protection when the voltage of an inputted alternating current is too high, thus preventing electronic components in the air conditioner from being damaged by overvoltage. Also disclosed are the air conditioner and an overvoltage protection method for the air conditioner.
