Abstract:
Provided is a method for a photooxidation reaction of a benzylic carbon-hydrogen bond of an aromatic compound under acid/photocatalytic conditions. The use of the method is to synthesize aryl formic acids and aryl ethyl ketones. The acid catalyst is a Bronsted acid, for example, one among or a mixture of hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, p-toluenesulfonic acid, methanesulfonic acid, trifluoromethanesulfonic acid, trifluoroacetic acid, potassium hydrogensulfate, N-Sulphonic acid propylpyridine bisulfate, N-sulphonic acid butylpyridine hydrogen sulfate, N-sulphonic acid propylpyridine trifluoromethanesulfonate, N-sulphonic acid butylpyridine trifluoromethanesulfonate, N-Propylpyridinium sulfonate tetrafluoroborate, and propylpyridine sulfonate tetrafluoroborate. The oxidation reaction is carried out at normal temperature and pressure. Air or oxygen is used as an oxidant, the conditions are mild, and the catalyst and solvent are easy to recycle.
