Abstract:
A method of using an oxide superconductor cable may be obtained whereby it is possible to provide an adequate reinforcing effect for a reinforcing material that also has a lower thermal contraction rate than the thermal contraction rate of a superconductor tape. Disclosed is a method of using an oxide superconductor cable wherein an oxide superconductor cable, whereupon a reinforcing material is disposed, is cooled and used after being curved. The method comprises the steps of layering, at ordinary temperature, a tape-shaped reinforcing material (2) with a lower thermal conduction rate than the thermal conduction rate of a superconductor tape (1), which is arranged in a linear shape, upon one face of the superconductor tape (1), and thereafter, combining the superconductor tape (1) and the reinforcing material (2) into a single unit, preparing an oxide superconductor cable; curving, at ordinary temperature, the oxide superconductor cable such that the reinforcing material (2) side is the exterior circumference thereof; and cooling the curved oxide superconductor cable.
